CAPTAIN AMERICA
It is indeed a relief to see most of the country turn against genocide. It was all well and good for Biden to crack some heads on college campuses, but how can Trump and Schumer possibly arrest 3/4 of the country? Most Americans have had enough of this capitalist gaslighting that expects us to believe that they are doing it all for the love of democracy or of Judaism. At the same time, the killing hasn’t slowed down, and you and I are still the ones buying Israel the weapons to do it.
An obvious strategic flaw is how much anti-genocide criticism is focused on Netanyahu. That man signed up to be the scapegoat. If you don’t hate him, he isn’t doing his job. He’s the cartoon villain that self-appointed cartoon heroes are scripted to vanquish. The goal was always to replace him with someone who will commit the same genocide, steal the same land, enforce the same apartheid, but be less obnoxious. War crimes will return once again to their rightful place as boring, everyday background noise.
A deeper problem is America’s unwillingness to reckon with its own past. It’s a bit rich for white liberals who have benefitted for generations from global capitalism, racism and colonialism to now stand in judgement of such practices when Israelis do it. And as long as defeatist Americans keep throwing up their hands and voting for politicians who give weapons to Israel, Israel will keep asking where those voters get off telling them which ethnicities they can or can’t wipe off the face of the earth.
Likewise, until the entire Western world does some repair work for its own land theft, apartheid and genocides, Zionists will be correct to call its critics hypocrites. Remember that the Nazis looked to American genocide, American slavery, and Jim Crow as their model, inspiration, and justification. Until the Western world rediscovers its many centuries of calculated anti-Semitism that culminated in the Holocaust, and all of the trauma thus inflicted on European Jews, it’s unprocessed guilt will continue to be weaponized against majority-Muslim countries that had nothing to do with it.
Likewise, until we design a new type of American economy that does not prop itself up on investments in weapons, foreign wars, AI-enhanced killer computers, oil, slave labor, and usury, we can expect our leaders to keep this madness up. After all they are simply fulfilling their contractual obligations to an economic system which granted them their power and wealth. Once we start investing our economy in things that liberate and nourish and educate and sustain us, there will be no more pressure to mass murder non-white people for profit.
Likewise, Americans have a hard time facing the reality that the past three years in Israel are hardly an aberration. The U.S. ruling class, and the media that parrots its talking points, has a long history of selling mass murder as some kind of rescue of democracy or human rights. They’ve been doing it since the Korean War, and it really goes back to the country’s founding. But once whatever scare headlines du jour die down, history is consistent and clear: The U.S. does not care about democracy or human rights. Decade after decade, it’s been perfectly happy to depose or assassinate democratically elected leaders around the world, and install brutal dictators more friendly to American capitalism.
Likewise, the U.S. never actually abolished the slavery that made this country such a capitalist success story. We still practice it in our prisons. And conveniently for capitalists, who are contractually obligated to minimize costs and maximize profits, we imprison more human beings than any country ever, total and per capita. This colossal population is made up largely of poor Black men. At the same time we still allow our most successful companies to practice literal slavery or near-slavery abroad. Until we change this, liberal claims of “this is not who we are” will continue to ring false.
Likewise, people who say “our immigration system is broken” need to clarify what’s actually broken about it. Let’s do that right now: We criminalize human migration. We violently prevent people from escaping global existential crises that we create. The U.S. is systematically making the world uninhabitable. We impoverish countries to maximize profit. Destroy climate to maximize profit. Start or prolong wars and genocides to maximize profit. Make growing food impossible to maximize profit. Install ruthless dictators to maximize profit. We are responsible for the refugees we create.
And at the same moment that we shirk these basic responsibilities to Earth's humans, animals, and their future generations, many of us seem to want to go out of our way to take on the bonus responsibility of centering the feelings of white supremacists and mass murderers. We pressure our friends and neighbors to support them. We stress the need to be cordial to them. We praise them when they die and sympathize with them when they get publicly humiliated. We pointlessly struggle to meet them halfway. We platform them and their racist, murderous beliefs, in an effort to generate clicks and ratings for ourselves, and they are only too happy to oblige.
Have you noticed how no politician or CEO who has been busy destroying the climate and lying about it, or who has been enabling this disgrace in Palestine, has faced the slightest legal consequence? Meanwhile those who actually do believe in international laws, or human liberation, or survival, get their heads bashed in, or get thrown in prison for terrorism. We vote and spend these mass murderers into power and wealth. We pay them salaries and give them healthcare. We put them on TV and debate whose version of genocide we like more. We’ve been willing participants in the normalization of mass murder for profit.
We’re long past the point of claiming that the deaths at the hands of Amerisrael or fossil fuels companies or ICE are some kind of tragic accident. We’re watching the planned murder of millions, if not billions, of people. The only acceptable political position is rapid demilitarization, decarbonization and degrowth. If you aren’t hearing this explicitly from the mouth of your favorite politician or candidate, then they are an avowed murderer. Every bit as premeditated as any serial killer or Marvel villain.
If Amerisrael is allowed to keep up this pace of destruction, there’s no more Palestine. No more Lebanon. Maybe no more Iran. If fossil fuel companies are allowed to keep up their pace of destruction, there’s no more Caribbean. No more Bangladesh. Where do we think those millions of people are going to go? We just sacrifice them to capitalism? So a handful of oil and weapons moguls can get even richer? It all sounds bonkers, but listen carefully to your leaders and media personalities. This is precisely their view, whether they say it out loud or not.
And Republicans do say it out loud: Black and Brown lives are worthless. Democrats try to spin it. Former Biden officials now attempting a weak apology, now that they can’t do anything about it, is simply disgusting. Nothing against personal forgiveness, but no one trying to launder their image and increase their electoral odds by saying “oopsy” after that much unmitigated savagery should ever be allowed anywhere near the levers of power. Same for enablers of ICE, and of the Big Tech fascists. This madness was obvious from day one.
In fact, you pick the controversy, I’ll show you a Left that has been vindicated by history. Time and again the Left turns out to have been holding the only realistic position. Time and again mainstream public opinion ends up adopting the original Left view. Vietnam. Iraq. Data centers. Abolishing ICE. Taxing billionaires. Opposing AIPAC and getting money out of politics. Guantanamo. Medicare For All. New drilling permits. Student loan debt. Family separations. American concentration camps. LGBTQ erasure. Voting DSA. Warning that Harris will just hand Trump the reins unless she takes a clear stand on genocide.
For all the billions that are poured into the capitalist propaganda machine, and pushed on us 24/7 from the day we are born, it’s really not working anymore. Polls show that we increasingly see American capitalism for what it is. The contradictions between words and actions have just become too glaring. We no longer trust our lawmakers, nor the billionaires who own them and own the major media. Unfortunately none of this makes any difference in policy, as long as we keep submitting to the lie that an actual transition away from capitalism, and its two decrepit political parties, is “going too far.”
We’re told repeatedly that this epic showdown between our two clown-like capitalist parties is world history’s top priority. But do we ever stop to notice how many of the actual billionaires driving the world into the gutter are suddenly Democrats when a Democrat is president, and suddenly Republicans when a Republican is president? For these weapons dealers, oil tycoons, and Big Tech man-children, it doesn’t matter who wins. It matters whom the winner serves.
Being a centrist in 2026 is more meaningless than ever. The 2026 centrist is opposed on principle to standing for something, or risking anything. Their goal is to identify the exact halfway point between whatever left and right boundaries happen to be spoon-fed to them on TV that week. The centrist sees it as their duty to dismiss global liberation struggles as unrealistic, and stifle the momentum of any positive movement that has yet to reach 51% public support in America. In this sense they are really more conservative than the far right, and thus a key reason the far right keeps winning.
So why not save ourselves some trouble and just put more trust in the Left, starting immediately? The Left is not a monolith of course, and any number of differing methods and philosophies are contained within it at any time. But what they all share is a set of basic values that the American capitalist parties work hard every day to dismiss or destroy. The Left is where the energy and fun are, and where the future is being written. Follow its voices and momentum. Engage with its analyses and critiques. Support its movements and organizations and candidates.
Let’s don’t judge politicians anymore on what they say. Let’s don’t judge them on what they think. Or what we think they might think. Let’s judge them on what they do. And if they are planning a mass murder, let’s put an end to their political career.

oh the ironies
While “Border Czar” Tom Homan’s latest warning to Democrats who criticize ICE that “there’s still going to be more bloodshed unless they shut their mouth and let ICE enforce the laws that they enacted” is nonsensical, it does highlight many of the ironies of the debate around ICE. First is the total contradiction between Dem words and Dem actions. What these cynical politicians say in public to score political points is the opposite of how they vote. Consistently and hypocritically they fund, expand, militarize, normalize, and leave unaccountable this rightfully hated agency.
Remember that only the reason this guy exists to torment us in the first place is that Barack Obama appointed him as head of ICE, and awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his massive increase in deportations, and his brainstorm that the U.S. government should start separating immigrant families as a deliberate form of deterrent cruelty. The difference between the Dems and GOP on this issue is much smaller than advertised.
Tom Homan knows this. It’s all playacting to do Democrats a favor and make it seem like they are actually "resisting" when anyone who reads the papers know that they are not. The best today’s prominent Democratic Party leaders could come up with to “resist” ICE has been to propose increasing its funding to add bodycams to facilitate more extreme surveillance of targeted populations, and to complain that the violence that ICE is wreaking should in some cases be more properly be wrought by local and state police.
The purpose of statements like Homan’s is to shift the window of debate away from “Should ICE be allowed to exist when they are murdering people in the street?" to “Is it sometimes OK for ICE to murder certain specific people?” It’s the same when ICE admits publicly that they are arresting people without warrants and who pose no threat to them.
The reason the ruling class is deploying this guy and guys like him is because they know that Americans are overwhelmingly disgusted with ICE. The ruling class needs that energy turned from “ABOLISH ICE” to “Let’s find ways for elected officials to debate which people do actually deserve to be murdered in the street, and look into potential ways to reform the training of individual officers.”
Homan’s statement, while ludicrous, patronizing, and meant to short-circuit human brain function, does in fact conform to the recent realities of U.S. policing. When Americans turned out in record numbers in 2020 to protest police brutality, racism, militarization, overfunding, and unaccountability, the result was that lawmakers of both parties, from city to state to federal, gave the police more money and more weapons. As a result police murders have continued to go up ever since, no matter which party was in power.
Homan’s statement also reveals, perhaps inadvertently, that the true nature of ICE is not what has been stated by its Dem and GOP cheerleaders. It’s not about managing immigration, or even strengthening our borders. It’s a private army deployed by the ruling class against its own population as a form of political control.
ICE exists, as do the police and the military, to protect the profits and property of the super-rich. They do just enough to give the appearance of something more beneficial to society to trick gullible Dem and GOP voters into continuing to elect the clowns who fund these agencies.
To the extent that ICE has anything whatsoever to do with immigration, it’s not to remove all immigrants, as is advertised to gullible, impoverished white supremacists, but simply to scare our underpaid immigrant workforce, without whom our economy would crumble instantly, into not asking for a raise or more humane working conditions, lest they face “more bloodshed.”
The issue of ICE is inseparable from the issue of Israel on many levels. They share technology and training. Both rely heavily on A.I. weapons, including drones, surveillance, and targeting databases. Both rely on racism to justify their existence. Both exist only because the U.S. taxpayer has been tricked into voting for politicians whose campaigns were underwritten by the profiteers of violence who make a fortune every time there is “more bloodshed.” And both are hard right, fascist phenomena.
ICE exists as a critical piece of the fascist machinery. George Jackson taught us that when fascism is doing well and its imperial fantasies of global domination not particularly threatened, it puts people like Bill Clinton in power to project an image of niceness. This does not mean that Clinton himself is any less depraved than the meaner-looking counterparts from his class, the Epstein Class. When fascism does feel threatened, as it rightfully does now, it uses overt fear campaigns and naked violence to put people back in line.
The fascist movement is not having its big moment at a random time. Everyone knows global warming and economic collapse are about to wipe billions of people off the face of the Earth, and people need an excuse for why they should be the ones who get to survive. Things like white supremacy and Jewish supremacy provide that excuse. If you really want to fight white supremacy, Jewish supremacy, and fascism, calling them “deplorable” only plays into their hands. You have to change the condition that creates them, and that condition is capitalism.
What we are seeing now is historically what happens when the left has already won the argument. The public agrees with the left on ICE and any number of major issues. The ruling class then gives up on trying to persuade the public, and instead starts deploying some small fraction of their unlimited wealth and power on naked violence and self-protection. In our time, they’ve started using that wealth to build bunkers and spaceships and A.I. armies.
Only the liberals still fantasize that people like Homan, Trump or Netanyahu are actually trying to win over the public or trying convince you of anything. Liberals therefore obsessively argue their ludicrous statements on their merits, as if they were presented in good faith, giving the fascists free publicity and validation, and closing the window of debate to exclude what most of the public actually thinks, which is that, no, we should not be paying our taxes to fund ICE, nor any other unaccountable militarized agency that shoots innocent people in the street.
The right loves it when witless liberal commentators continue to give such ludicrous statements as Homan's the respect of treating them as good faith arguments. Meanwhile they've long since moved on to a strategy of ignoring, silencing, impoverishing, imprisoning, dispossessing, infecting, injuring, and killing the public, and using their wealth and power simply to protect their profits, their property, and themselves.
The ruling class loves when we argue over whether this or that victim of state violence was or was not an “angel.” They’re overjoyed when we quibble over whether it’s wimpy to wear a mask during chemical spills, forest fires, and pandemics. They’re satisfied as long as we fight over anything really, as long as we aren’t striking, boycotting, suing, organizing unions or electing socialists to office.
It’s often said that “It’s not left vs right but rich vs poor,” but I’m not sure I entirely agree with that. A big part of the right is the part that claims to be the left, but actually spends more energy trying to drive a wedge between itself and the actual left. They do this by pretending to criticize the right while simultaneously imitating, appeasing, compromising with, collaborating with it.
I define the right as a radical political movement that divides human beings into those deserving and undeserving of basic rights, whether we’re talking about immigrants, Jews, activists, or anyone else. This movement protects money and power at the expense of the worker. It justifies genocide, slavery, militarism, extreme levels of inequality, and enacting policies that are the opposite of what the public wants. In the U.S. the main institutions of the right are Democratic and Republican parties.

FINAL NIGHT OF EUROPE TOUR
I don’t like it when "human nature" gets blamed for evils that are actually the fault of very specific rich and powerful people or very specific economic political or aesthetic systems that are neither inevitable nor universal but really just a handful among infinite possibilities that humans could try or have tried through the millennia
The human species is neither a virus nor a cancer nor inherently evil but is having its potential for evil drastically increased by a stupid economic system that’s imposed on it by its richest members plus whatever Lindsay Grahams and Kamala Harrises they can bribe which creates a structural incentive for behavior that is greedy violent unfair exploitative dehumanizing and ultimately self-annihilating
One thing humans seem to do more than any other species that’s evolved on our planet is to be creative which is why those who think capitalism is natural and inevitable and its greed and violence the only behaviors of which humans are capable should get out more or could read a book about anthropology archaeology or world history
Humans have created infinite ways of organizing themselves over the hundreds of thousands of years they have walked the earth and to suggest that one experimental economic system that popped up in Europe 500 years ago and is now destroying the planet is the only system any of us could ever conceive of is obviously an affront to common sense and a symptom of white supremacist propaganda
To even suggest that the only reason any member of our species has ever sung or created music was to generate content in hopes of going viral on the internet is to be willfully obtuse and spit in the face of any person of reason or any person who does in fact create music
The fact that American music and particularly Black American music has become the lingua franca of global commercial music does not mean that there is such a thing as “universal” music or “better” or “worse” music and one of the many things that my teacher Pauline Oliveros taught us was that across the globe and over the millennia music has been put to a wider variety of uses than any one person could ever imagine
Dancing worship thinking expression problem-solving instinct community-building sonic-pleasure mating battle communication experimentation transcendence synchronization self-esteem exercise intellectual-pleasure catharsis friend-making memory-aid math physics culture-differentiation secret-code gifts ancestral-memory and child-rearing are just a random sampling of the perfectly valid non-capitalist reasons that music exists and has existed for millennia that I could think of in 60 seconds
From when we are children we humans do seem to need to make things and just because not everyone grows up to be an artist doesn't disqualify creativity from a list of basic human needs anymore than the fact that not everyone grows up to be a parent disqualifies childcare from a list of basic human needs
A definition of music which equates quality with instant supernormal sensory gratification and addictive hooks is not proof of some universal feature of human nature but an example of the same capitalist imperatives that caused the proliferation of sugary breakfast cereals that appeared in the 1950s
The definition of musical "satisfaction" which emphasizes rising tension climax and resolution is both based upon and meant to service celebrate and falsely universalize male sexual pleasure and is a product of patriarchy
Anthony Braxton has taught us that just because a musical creation or musical community has not become useful to capitalists or powerful institutions does not mean that this musical creation or musical community does not exist or serves no purpose or is an inherent failure
Big Tech billionaires have tricked musicians and listeners into believing that their own for-profit platforms are the only valid or viable outlet for musical expression and that infinite choice for the listener and infinite exploitation for the musician is the model that we all obviously want
The romantic archetype of the heroic artist genius suffering in poverty and isolation is of course very useful to the capitalist who is compelled to extract as much of our labor and income and creativity as they can get away with before you can’t tolerate it anymore and start to withhold these things from the capitalist
The capitalist does not actually see the artist as a heroic genius suffering in isolation but as a temporary profit stream meant to tide them over until they finish transferring all of their investments into something more profitable which is weaponry
A process is already well underway in which Big Tech platforms advertised as outlets for artistic expression such as Spotify Amazon Google YouTube Apple Instagram and Facebook are becoming purposely addictive fronts for war profiteering and arms dealing
So much money has now been invested in AI that those in Big Tech know that there are only four ways it will ever make a profit 1. for virtually every human need to be provided by a computer 2. for virtually every worker and creator to be replaced by a computer 3. for virtually all creative accomplishments in recorded history to be stolen and plagiarized by computer 4. for virtually all warfare to be fought by computer and to make sure that warfare never ends but escalates forever
We recommend discontinuing the use of the major tech platforms wherever possible since using them funds wars genocide slavery ICE AI-weapons AI-data-centers income-inequality or some combination of these insane experiments which directly threaten human survival
More importantly my hot take on the new Rolling Stones album is that while it continues the half-century tradition of Mick trying to sound young and Keith trying to sound old it expresses these anxieties with a more clearly billionaire point of view than before
Mick and Keith fitfully attempt to distance themselves from their fellow billionaires with which the global population is so rightly disgusted while also engaging in the Big Tech affirmations and expressions of the pre-apocalyptic party-while-you-still-can mindset that epitomize today’s billionaire class
Likewise the astronomical production budget is utilized sometimes to faithfully communicate the feeling of being right in front of the band for example Keith and Ronnie’s guitars and Steve Jordan’s rack tom and sometimes to turn perfectly good acoustic sounds into digitally burnished meta-entities that do not resemble their acoustic counterpart for example Steve Jordan’s snare and what sounds like quite a bit of cutting and pasting

not an accident
TRAVEL DAY THOUGHTS FROM AIRPORT HOTEL...WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, SO MANY OF THE APPARENT CONTROVERSIES, PLOT TWISTS, AND REVERSALS OF FORTUNE THAT CORPORATE MEDIA SELL AS SHOCKING WERE AMAZINGLY PREDICTABLE AND REALLY JUST PART OF THE PLAN ALL ALONG.
In case it wasn't obvious, it was always the plan to provoke Hamas into giving Biden and Harris an excuse to divert tens of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to Israel to commit war crimes. In the process they would knowingly neglect the needs of Americans, break the law, destroy their own political careers, and hand the reins to Trump. These so-called supporters of Israel would deliberately obliterate that country's global reputation, and make it the least safe place on Earth for Jews.
Liberals and fascists always knew they'd eventually have to take a break from trading insults to collaborate on a sham "peace" agreement. This travesty would let Israel keep most of its illegal post-Oct 7 conquests, and completely eliminate any way for Palestinians or Lebanese to defend themselves from future Israel/U.S. attacks. Trump, Biden, Harris and Netanyahu would each get their moment in the spotlight, but were really never more than well-paid fall guys, pre-selected from the global elite, promised permanent protection from criminal prosecution.
If everything goes according to plan, the public should then be satisfied that justice has been served, and the evils of Israel reined in. In reality its worst criminals will go scot-free, the military industrial complex and Pentagon budget will once again have been massively expanded, and the balance of power will have shifted heavily in Zionism's favor. For the architects of this plan, it was always going to be two steps forward and one step back.
This is why I find it hilarious when liberals fret over the loss of American "prestige" under Trump. This country doesn't even take its own laws seriously, let alone the international ones. Although you’ll never hear it on corporate media, the U.S. does have actual rules about aiding and abetting war crimes. But try and find a Republican or Democrat who cares a pin about such trivialities. Their instruction to the world is clear: only losers respect agreements, follow laws, or lack nuclear weapons.
Touring the world for a living has been a real education. People around the globe do not care about Trump's hairstyle, or the White House redesign, or any of the nonsense with which billionaire-owned media platforms and infotainment outlets try to distract us. And why should they care? They’re focused on U.S. policies, which are overwhelmingly bipartisan, and busy turning Earth into a blasted, burning hellscape that no non-billionaire will be able to survive.
For those who've repeatedly insisted that deep down Democrats stand for harm reduction, it’s become obvious that hiring someone else, whether it's ICE or the IDF, to do your raping, killing, torturing, and stealing, while you cut and paste lofty-sounding phrases into your fundraising emails and public remarks, is not and never was harm reduction.
Just because your name might not literally appear in the Epstein files does not confirm your opposition to human trafficking and the most depraved forms of human degradation and exploitation. If you fund or invest in rape, murder, torture, and theft, you are at least as guilty as whomever you hired to do the dirty work. Just ask any mob boss in history.
The number of Democratic or Republican lawmakers who actually want to see the world's worst war criminals face the music is effectively zero. Trump, Biden, Harris, Blinken, Obama, Bush, Netanyahu are literal serial killers who will never be held accountable for their well documented and completely public crimes. (We did put them all on the guest list yesterday at our show in The Hague, but sadly none showed up.)
There was a time when politicians actually attempted to appeal to the hearts and minds of voters. But 2020s establishment politicians of both parties engage in little more than Orwellian gaslighting. "Biden and Harris really care about Palestinians... ICE murders and police brutality... the climate... abortion... student loan debt... healthcare... prosecuting Trump..." etc etc. The real goal of today's ruling class is to make Americans lose their minds from being bombarded day after day with utter nonsense.
One explanation for the pathetic nostalgia many liberals now express for the good old days of Bush and Cheney is that at least they cared about public opinion. Sure, their ever-shifting sales pitch for why Americans should pay for the destruction of Iraq was nothing but lies, but at least they bothered to try and convince us. Now politicians devote themselves to a new and esoteric calling: generating unending, mind-numbing, paralyzing confusion, outrage and overwhelm.
Our military defeat in Iraq was always part of the plan. In retrospect it's easy to see that from Korea to Iran, no U.S. hot or cold war since WW2 was ever meant to end in an actual military victory. All that blood and money was wasted simply to:
- save face or consolidate power in an election year
- further expand the military industrial complex
- obliterate and impoverish the countries hosting the wars, especially if they were anti-capitalist or defied U.S. control
- provide profit opportunities for U.S. reconstruction, real estate, and fossil fuel companies
The billionaires busy selling new technologies for the more efficient killing of human beings, destroying the planet for future generations, buying news media, buying Democrat and Republican politicians, evading their taxes, and crashing the world economy, were never going to be held accountable for the millions that die unnecessarily as a result. It's all a numbers game to them, with a certain element of risk, but with odds that have been calculated in advance to be in their favor.
Billionaires and politicians read the papers just like the rest of us. They know that if the U.S. and Israel are allowed to keep up their current pace of violence, weapons sales, carbon emissions, A.I. weapons development, and dehumanization, they are on course to make survival all but impossible. Not just for Hamas or Hezbollah, not just for Americans and Israelis, but for every single living being that has ever evolved on our miraculous planet.
The only exceptions to this planned devastation will be for those few humans who can afford to purchase their protection and escape. Today's billionaires are well aware that the planet is headed either for environmental collapse, nuclear war, or world revolution. And soon. They know this better than anyone, since they are the ones deliberately causing the polycrisis.
Anything billionaires, or their paid puppets in government or media, might say about saving the world with exciting new technologies or policy tweaks, is directly contradicted by those billionaires' own actions. Why else would they be building remote bunkers far from likely nuclear blast points? Why would they be using our taxes to amass A.I.-enhanced armies/police/border control tasked with protecting their private property? Why would they be incarcerating human beings at world-record rates? Why would they be hoarding food and water so intensely? Why would they be constructing and testing rocket ships?
Either our empire completely collapses in a total failure to feed, shelter and otherwise care for its inhabitants, triggered by one too many wars or natural disasters, or is obliterated along with everything else in nuclear armageddon, or we are headed for a revolution against the current ruling and ownership class. Certainly never in history has this level of economic inequality been allowed to continue for long. At the same time, any potential revolution is being actively sabotaged by those who have the most to lose: the super-rich, and our two dominant U.S. political parties.
We are asked to believe that those responsible for our imminent collapse are Hamas, Hezbollah, and poor immigrants from Latin America. Those of us living in the imperial core, with some ability to affect the outcome, must now ask ourselves if this is remotely true. After all, such entities have made no threat to annex American territory or subjugate or wipe out its people, as the U.S. or Israel have done against them. They aren't the ones asking the U.S. taxpayer for bombs and A.I. killing machines. Nor is any pro-Palestine or anti-ICE protester in the U.S. petitioning our government to give them any.
That's why framing political discourse as a debate between "pro-Israel" and "pro-Palestine" is completely bogus. It sounds as if we're arguing over whether to send all those bombs, bullets and fighter jets to Israel or to Palestine. To eliminate the legal rights of Palestinians or of Israelis. Meanwhile the idea that our taxes might go towards our own wellbeing, or anything other than Israeli weapons, apartheid and genocide, remains a topic forbidden by both parties. The belief that life and liberty might be inherent rights, not needing to be earned, and not doled out on the basis of race or religion, is now considered terrorism.
Iran was the first country to say out loud that the war they were forced into was a war against the Epstein Class. Against those who would destroy the world to satisfy their own lusts for blood, money, legal impunity, and underage girls. This is no rhetorical exaggeration. Amnesty has confirmed that Israel is now the world’s leading killer of humans. The soon-to-be-merged militaries of the U.S. and Israel are the top carbon emitter in history, armed with nuclear bombs, and rapidly making the world uninhabitable. This merger creates the most lethal and despicable entity ever to inhabit our planet.
While the governments of, say, China, or Iran, are undoubtedly evil, they aren't the ones stealing American tax dollars to shoot us in the street, or incarcerate and impoverish us at such deranged rates, or bring about near-extinction-level famine in the next two or three generations. No entity in existence could possibly be more evil than our very own billionaire class, backed by bipartisan corrupt lawmakers, a far right court system, and the unimaginable violence of a merged, nuclear-armed U.S.-Israeli military, now openly and systematically annihilating all human laws, values and the possibility of life on our planet.

capitalism who?
What is capitalism? Maybe I don't know exactly, but I know it's more than just buying and selling things, which has been done around the globe for many millennia before anything like capitalism ever appeared on this planet. In the three hundred thousand year span of human existence, capitalism is just a tiny blip.
If you don't like the word capital or capitalism, feel free to call our current system by some other name. But whatever it's called, it's this thing that requires us to organize our entire lives around wage labor, creating surplus value which is extracted by an elite ownership class as profit, the infinite growth of which is reimagined as society's highest priority.
Whatever you wish to call it, ours is a system that builds millions of houses that stay empty while millions of people live on the street.
A system that prevents a transition to solar and wind power which are cheaper, but you only have to pay for it once and therefore isn't as profitable as fossil fuels where you pay again and again.
A system that requires we raise and slaughter millions of animals that then don't get eaten.
A system where super wealth buys control of public opinion, media, elections, and policy.
A system that requires we bail out the same financiers who crash the world economy, because they are deemed too big to fail.
A system that invests absurd amounts of money in AI that can only possibly return that investment by engaging in perpetual AI-enhanced wars and genocides, and by replacing human laborers, creators and fighters with computers that never complain, never get tired, never dream, and never feel remorse for killing.
That system.
We entertain ourselves by fantasizing that what we are enduring now is some kind of aberration within an otherwise perfectly reasonable system. We pretend not to remember that every capitalist empire in history, including our own, has come to power and wealth through the use of genocides and slavery, both of which would be rejected as utterly insane were it not for the invention and propagation of racism.
World history also teaches us that the collapse we’re living through now is what always happens to empires after about two hundred fifty years. They become too unequal, too overextended, and too reliant on their militaries and finance sectors. All the things that make life survivable fall apart piece by piece, and life degrades for everyone. But there are a couple of significant differences this time around:
For the first time in world history, the collapsing superpower spans the entire planet and holds every human being at gunpoint.
For the first time in world history, that collapsing empire owns and controls weapons that can instantly wipe out all life with the press of a button.
Meanwhile, for some reason we are expected to believe that our self destruction can be avoided only through elections every two, four years. We are expected to believe that our only options during these elections are two capitalist parties that have nothing but contempt for their voters and constituents. Parties whom almost everyone therefore despises.
For some reason we are expected to believe that a member of society is considered properly educated simply if they are caught up on the latest spats, scandals, and horse races of the ruling elite, who are periodically swapped out for each other to create an endless, suspenseful spectacle.
For some reason we are expected to hold politicians and media personalities to a lower moral standard than we hold each other. We're expected to ache with remorse over a poorly worded email or Instagram post, while politicians can commit genocide and require it to be overlooked and never discussed. Obviously if anyone among us should be held to a higher standard, it's those who make the laws we have to follow, and those who generate the propaganda to which we are all subject. That's the price of power.
If world history is our guide, there is zero chance that Americans simply elect a more moderate-right leader instead of a far-right leader, and everything magically goes back to normal. The fantasy that all our troubles are down to the personality quirks of this or that political or business executive, and unrelated to underlying historical systems, is being sold to you by a corporate media industry that is owned by the superrich and is a critical part of the empire itself, and which is collapsing right along with it.

the plight of the aipac democrat
The vast majority of national-level Democrat politicians are what we call “AIPAC Democrats”. Not because they have Israeli citizenship, or are Jewish, or religious, or concerned with Israeli or Jewish safety, but because they are charisma-challenged, bad at their job, and unable to win their elections without the massive election interference, financial help, and smear campaigns that AIPAC provides. Of course none of this has helped win the AIPAC Dems much in the way of political power, but at least it prevented anti-genocide progressives and socialists from getting into office. Mission accomplished? Not exactly. Although the position of the AIPAC Dem has always been awkward, recent events have put them, along with Dem-leaning corporate news, and Israel defenders in general, into a more excruciating position than ever before. Together the following recent headlines should be all the proof anyone needs about just how comfortable the Democratic Party is with fascism. Consider:
To the extent that Democrats assume the role of an opposition party, this consists increasingly of criticisms of Trump FROM THE RIGHT. Dem dead-enders who still continue to refuse to criticize Israel in any substantive or specific way are now pushing for a MORE belligerent attitude towards Iran than is contained in Trump’s deal. Thus they officially and publicly position themselves even further to the right than the blatant fascist in the White House.
Although Israel’s constant ceasefire violations going back years have not typically made it into heavily censored American corporate news, the fact that Trump explicitly asked Netanyahu to stop them has forced them into the spotlight. Israel’s response has been to say “Where do you get off telling us which ethnicities we can and can’t wipe of the face of the Earth,” and proceed immediately to murder hundreds more Lebanese civilians and demolish entire Lebanese towns, to a chorus of deafening silence from the AIPAC Dems.
AIPAC Dems have now been reduced to trotting out Hillary Clinton, once portrayed as some kind of arch enemy of Trump and the champion of the Trump-hating liberals, to write an essay shaming Democratic voters for failing to show enough support for Trump’s genocidal foreign policy in Gaza, for failing to blindly accept his ludicrous Board Of Peace, and for failing to understand that the only possible solution is the total annihilation of any resistance from Palestinians.
One of the largest labor unions in the country, UAW, has voted to divest from Israel bonds. This puts the schools who physically attacked their own students and professors for criticizing investments in Israeli war crimes into a public fight with their own staffs, who are largely part of UAW. It demonstrates exactly what the left has been saying: that American academic institutions are not primarily about higher learning or intellectual independence, but are mere fronts for what are actually tax havens for corporate boards whose primary interest is investing in weapons.
Because poll result after overwhelming poll result shows that Dem voters are now absolutely disgusted to see their taxes, tuitions and investments being misused for genocide and other extreme-right experiments in depravity, the government has been forced to hide these endless thefts and donations. With the new, unprecedented, and permanent structural fusion the IDF with the U.S. military, they will extract the same taxpayer money, to fund the same Israeli war crimes, but now without Congressional approval or public oversight. The pentagon never passes their audits, ensuring that the American taxpayer will no longer know how much money it gives to Israel, or how it is used.
According to a recent leak, it turns out there is actually a secret cabal of elected lawmakers and Big Tech oligarchs, led by Palantir, who are literally plotting the fascist control of the world. The contradiction between supporting Israel, and opposing AI and expansion of data centers, has become too obvious to ignore. Israel’s entire economy would collapse without perpetual war, and the key element of the success (i.e. body count) of its war machine, is its use of AI. The weapons provided by American companies like Palantir and Amazon, and Israeli companies like Elbit Systems, have now helped Israel achieve the distinction of being the world’s confirmed leading killer of human beings.
For all the blaring headlines about plummeting gas prices, they haven’t and will not be returning to pre-Hormuz levels, for no reason other than that an artificial emergency was created by our government, and fossil fuel companies were always planning to enjoy a permanent price-gouge profit windfall as a result. Disaster capitalism is thus once again allowed to flourish in our sad country.
With Iran’s victory, the list of countries against whom Israel has been requesting U.S. military intervention since the mid-90s is now complete. Every one has been a military failure and a moral disaster. From Iran to Iraq to Syria to Yemen to Somalia to Sudan to Libya, these adventures made no one safer, made no population more democratically represented by their governments, and brought no benefit whatsoever to anyone other than a tiny handful of arms dealers, fossil fuel companies, disaster profiteers, and fascist politicians.
Even at this late date, as Israel’s narrative and support are completely collapsing across the country, the dead-enders who still want to invest in, arm, fund, run legal cover for, or simply overlook Israel’s genocide still aren’t bothering to attempt to formulate a cogent explanation of their point of view. Instead, they simply resort to more vicious threats and punishments for those who dare express an opinion about foreign policy or about how their taxes, tuitions, or bank accounts should be spent.
The betrayals and contradictions of AIPAC Dems can no longer be written off as simply failing to hear the wishes of their constituents clearly. It’s more like they are spitting in your face. They have nothing but contempt for the voters, endorsers, phone bankers, canvassers, rally attendees, money donors, social media posters, and Dem-leaning media consumers who made so many sacrifices of their time, labor, sweat, emotion, and reputations to get these Democrats into office in the first place, on the promise that they would oppose Trump’s policies and bring some kind of decency to American governance.
Thus has every point made by the left and targeted by centrist smear campaigns for the past 3 years been vindicated in some way. The lesson of all of this is so obvious it’s painful at this point. To beat Trump and fascism, politicians, Dems or not, must embrace socialism. They must start listening to their voters, stop taking bribes, start taxing billionaires, and abolish ICE. They must honor the memory of the Holocaust and take an unequivocal stand against genocide. All of us must reject the narratives spewed out by billionaire-owned news media, and start taking the warnings of the left more seriously.

so...
So…now that U.S. taxpayers have been forced to sacrifice billions of dollars to arm Israel’s genocide, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that AIPAC has spent hundreds of millions of dollars interfering in U.S. elections to sabotage popular progressive candidates, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that Americans are asked to entrust their future and safety to a merged U.S.-Israel military being run increasingly by A.I., does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that nearly all major U.S. politicians and all major U.S. media have caved in on validating and normalizing apartheid and war crimes, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So…now that hundreds of Palestinian journalists have been murdered with U.S. munitions, and U.S. corporate media has been even more thoroughly censored on the issue of Palestinian liberation than Israeli media, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that US college students have been physically beaten and expelled for not wanting their tuitions to fund a genocide, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that the lesson of the Holocaust has been changed from “never again commit genocide” to “never again resist or protest or mention genocide,” does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that rape, torture and genocide are no longer crimes as long as you have a well-armed military, and Jews are expected to make common cause with Trump and the extreme right, in supporting the dismantling of international laws, institutions, and frameworks governing the use of force, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that Americans are asked to believe that the genocidal policy of a handful of rich lawmakers is the same thing as a 3000-year-old religion, and the definition of “anti-Semitism” has been downgraded from “hatred of Jews” to “democratic participation in U.S. policy in the Middle East,” does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that the Anti Defamation League, and the entire U.S. mainstream discourse around anti-Semitism, has focused its attention away from the far-right racists who actually commit the overwhelming majority of anti-Semitic violence and defamation, and onto college students, Tik-Tok users, and other anti-genocide protestors, many of whom are Jews, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that the threats against U.S. voters by Zionist lawmakers are becoming increasingly vicious, desperate, and fascistic, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
So...now that Israel is being encouraged by the U.S. to break every ceasefire, expand her illegal wars and settlements, and Israelis are asked to expose themselves to more violent retaliation, for the sake of U.S. corporate profits, U.S. hegemony, and Trump family real estate deals, does the world view the state of Israel in a more positive light? Do Jews around the world feel more secure? Were these really Biden's or Trump's or Netanyahu's goals?
The U.S. does not control the state of Israel, nor vice versa. They are one state. Perhaps more accurately they are one multinational corporation, with Biden, Trump and Netanyahu as their policy wing. They are one consortium of weapons manufacturers, fossil fuel corporations, Big Tech, and individual corrupt lawmakers, trying to get as money as they can before the whole scheme falls apart in revolution, world war, or economic collapse.
Biden, Trump, and Netanyahu’s goal is Jewish and Israeli insecurity, fear and hatred. This insecurity has been weaponized and monetized. The economic sectors profiting from this destruction and erasure of non-Jews have known all along that Jewish and Israeli insecurity, fear and hatred were essential to their profit margins.
The money taxpayers “give to Israel” ends up in the pockets of U.S. arms dealers. The Biden-Trump-Netanyahu program we are all living through is not about a selfless country helping create a safe homeland for Jews. It’s about a collapsing empire extracting as much money as it can, while it still can. That’s what people who want to fund or invest in Israel stand for, whether they like it or not.
Investing in Israel is not a safe bet. To suggest it is is an affront to common sense, no matter how many politicians are bribed to say that it is. Israel is the center of a global controversy. Its program of genocide and permanent war is no more sustainable than was slavery in the U.S. This is scorched earth and last-ditch profiteering.
The billions of dollars U.S. taxpayers are told that they owe to Israel to slaughter non-Jews is of course only half of the total bill. The other half will be the reparations those taxpayers will have to pay once the genocide and invasions inevitably fail.
That the U.S. and Israel’s war crimes will inevitably fail is not due to anti-Semitism. They will fail because while the human race knows that there are some among us who are greedy and barbaric enough to wage permanent war and commit genocide and other atrocities, most humans have a conscience and are predictably disgusted.
Asking Israel to do the U.S.’s imperial dirty work is anti-Semitic. Equating thousands of years of Jewish religion, culture and history with a relatively new genocidal government in Israel is a renunciation and erasure of Jewish religion, culture and history. Trump, Biden, Harris, Netanyahu, Blinken, the Clintons, Raytheon, Palantir, and AIPAC are all anti-Semitic racists.
Israel couldn’t keep up its genocide and invasions another week without the U.S. taxpayer’s money. Their bombs and bullets would simply run out. That’s when the long, slow healing process can be allowed to begin. Jews will become safer as result. Stop arming and funding and investing in the state of Israel and her program of genocide and permanent war. Stop defending and staying silent on this 78-year campaign of violence and lawlessness, being fraudulently committed in the name of a 3000-year-old religion.

omnicide for fun and profit
I often say on here that genocide is the worst crime that human beings have ever invented. But that’s not really true. There’s one worse. Omnicide: the killing of everything.
Unfortunately, omnicide is not a fantasy. The project is underway. The entities committing it and profiting from it are actually the same governments, militaries and corporations committing and profiting from genocide. That is, the U.S. government, the Israeli government, their militaries, their big tech corporations, and their fossil fuel corporations.
The simplest and most profitable ways to commit omnicide are: nuclear weapons, ecological catastrophe from carbon emissions, permanent war, arms dealing, weapons manufacturing, war and disaster profiteering, designation of certain groups for eradication, mass starvation, removal of the means of survival, extreme wealth inequality, hoarding of resources by the rich, unaccountable policing and border control, and A.I.-assisted violence. In other words, the u.s. economy. Democrats and Republicans work together to make sure that these business models are so deeply entrenched in our economy that there can be no way to remove them or defund them. Doing so would mean crashing the economy. This is on purpose.
The u.s. government, the Israeli government, their militaries, their Big Tech corporations, and their fossil fuel corporations are now committing omnicide. The largest polluter on the planet is the u.s. military. It profits by making the world unlivable. Global famine has already arrived for many in the global south, and is coming soon for billions of human beings across the globe. This is not some rock drummer’s deranged fantasy. This is scientific consensus. Famine means no food. You die of starvation.
Not every country can commit omnicide. It takes a tremendous amount of money. Iran can’t commit omnicide. Venezuela can’t commit omnicide. Hamas can’t commit omnicide. Poor, undocumented immigrants can’t commit omnicide. To be able to kill almost everything, you have to have nuclear weapons. Or you have to have an economy so large and destructive that it can wipe out the livable environment. The U.S. has both.
International law means nothing when some countries have nuclear weapons and some don’t. The laws against genocide or unprovoked invasions are only for countries without nuclear weapons. Countries with nuclear weapons are allowed break every rule created after the defeat of Hitler: We can commit genocides, we can invade sovereign countries, we can kill children, we can enslave, we can rape and torture, we can ignore voters, we can kill journalists, doctors, nurses, teachers, and aid workers. The message to the rest of the world is obvious: GET NUCLEAR WEAPONS ASAP.
We entertain ourselves by thinking of omnicidal oligarchs as cartoon villains. It’s so easy to blame everything on Trump, or Netanyahu, or Biden, or Musk. It’s easier to think of them as crazy, illogical, deranged, or senile, than to admit they are actually the logical conclusion of our politico-economic systems. Their goal is profit (or investment), and that’s exactly what they get. If you are profitable, you can commit any atrocity and simply say, “It’s not political. I’m just fulfilling my fiduciary responsibility to my shareholders.” Enough people will believe you, no matter how ridiculous this statement is to most of us.
It’s easy to see that Palestinians and Lebanese are collateral for Israel. It’s harder to see why. It’s hard to admit that the entire is human race is collateral for capital. We’ve crossed a historic line in the last 20 years. Mega-corporations, and the governments that keep them in power, no longer need most of the human race. In the past they worked hard for your money, your votes, your belief, your hearts and minds. Now they only need your anger, your desperation, your confusion, your hatred, Your sickness, your injuries, your wars, and your deaths. This is what now keeps them profitable.
A key moment when I realized that the American public had become superfluous to the plans of its ruling class, and that we no longer lived in a democracy, was when Biden and Harris repeatedly funded genocide, against the will of their own voters, often without Congressional approval, with no effort to persuade the public, and no regard for how it would affect the upcoming election.
Starving our own species to death sounds utterly crazy, but the u.s. and Israeli governments, and their allies and media, are busy taking the necessary steps. For example they are normalizing famine for certain ethnic groups, certain religions, certain classes of people. According to political consensus of Democrats and Republicans, it’s OK for Palestinians to starve. According to political consensus of Democrats and Republicans, it’s a crime to feed starving Palestinians. All that remains now is to add more ethnic groups and classes of people to the list of the undeserving. That’s already happening. Think about it. Prisoners. undocumented immigrants. documented immigrants. protestors. people who live where a corporation wants to build something. the homeless. the poor. the Lebanese. the Iranians. the Congolese, the Sudanese.
The handful of souls driving the omnicidal business model are not in denial about omnicide. Believing they are is a luxury we can’t afford. They live off of death. They have plans for their own survival, even if the rest of us are expendable. An infrastructure of A.I.-protected enclaves, remote communities for the wealthy, bunkers, and hoarded resources like food and water, are already being established and normalized. These people know better than anyone that omnicide is real, regardless of how they might discuss it in public.
Look at the accelerating scale of destruction now being caused by the U.S. and Israel. It’s no exaggeration to say: They have to be stopped. Humanity’s continued existence depends on it. And unfortunately this doesn’t mean voting a few more Democrats like AOC into Congress, or nicer-seeming Zionists like Newsom or Harris into the White House. Would it help us understand the problem if we replaced the term “lesser evil” with “lesser omnicider?“ Remember, they have still promised to destroy everything, though perhaps with better decorum and/or snobbery.
There is no version of reality where genocide, apartheid, illegal military conquests, land theft, nuclear weapons, destruction of a livable habitat with carbon emissions, intentional mass starvation, permanent war profiteering, extreme wealth inequality, hoarding of resources by the rich, and A.I.-assisted violence are OK. And they don’t magically become OK when a Democrat engages in them, or funds them, or refuses to discuss them. They don’t suddenly become OK when Israel does them. They don’t become OK when an opponent “does them too.” They don’t become ok when the person doing them seems charming on TV.
Omincide becomes easier when the possibility of getting accurate information is destroyed. Politicians become more comfortable with lying about, or staying silent on, omnicidal issues. The proliferation of media overwhelms the public into numbness. A.I. is deployed to create doubt about everything you see. Journalism is turned into a corporate money-making scheme. Journalists who disagree are assassinated, as has been normalized in gaza, thanks to the efforts of both u.s. parties.
A.I. is key to the omnicidal program. Studies show it encourages stupidity and psychosis among the people whose survival is being targeted. And A.I. weapons make the omnicide go faster. This is why Deerhoof quit Spotify. Its leader Daniel Ek invests the money he steals from the past and present musicians of earth into A.I. weapons systems. Musicians’ “success” turns into a quicker end for humanity. Quicker, and more profitable, if your name happens to be Daniel Ek, Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Palantir, or the Amer-Israel military industrial complex.
Capitalists always say that capitalism is human nature. I can prove that this is a lie. If capitalism were natural, we would not need A.I. to perform its functions. Unlike human beings, A.I. has no regrets, no emotions, no love, no fatigue, no creativity. it can kill and kill and kill and never get tired, never feel sorry.

MEMORIAL DAY
My childhood friends, family and teachers taught me that genocide is wrong. Anyone who commits it, funds it, or profits from it is a criminal. No exceptions. Now I'm told that I need to be wishy washy about genocide. I am asked to make exceptions for certain important political parties or important corporations or important religions. Now I'm told that opposing genocide means I'm being too much of a perfectionist.
My childhood friends, family and teachers taught me about the trans Atlantic slave trade and the Holocaust. My Black and Jewish friends and teachers made the point especially strongly. The lesson was simple. Never be wishy washy about slavery or genocide. Now I am asked to believe that slavery and genocide are actually ok, when certain special people do them.
My childhood friends, family and teachers taught me that democracy means you vote your conscience. When people vote against their conscience, and instead try to guess how everyone else will vote, that isn't democracy anymore. This creates an industry that convinces everyone about how everyone else is voting, to prevent people from voting for what they actually believe in. It creates political parties that focus on making money instead of helping people or saving the world.
Now I'm told that the lessons and agreements and frameworks created after the horror of the Holocaust should be thrown in the garbage. These international laws don't apply to the Israeli or American governments. I am asked to believe that it is now my moral duty to support genocide, to fund apartheid, to invest in weapons, to vote for racists.
I am now asked to be wishy washy about genocides, wars, slavery, racism, unaccountable politicians, unaccountable police, and environmental destruction. I am expected to believe these things are ok now, because they are done by certain political parties or certain corporations. Then I'm expected to act surprised when our political parties and corporations commit these crimes more often every year.
Now I am asked to feel sorry for war criminals. I'm asked to consider the emotional discomfort of people who commit genocide. I'm asked to believe that deep down they are nice people. I am asked to believe their words, and ignore their actions. I am asked to pay better attention to pre-apocalypse formality and etiquette.
When people feel abandoned by politics, when their needs are not met by government, they get desperate. They look for someone to blame. They look for saviors. They believe nonsense. They become nihilists. Many scream for systemic change. The far right promises systemic change, but is lying. The left promises systemic change, and is telling the truth.
The way you get rid of the far right is to empower the left. This might be by voting for left candidates, and it might be empowering the left in ways other than voting. The way you strengthen the far right is to empower the center, who betray their voters, collaborate with the far right, adopt far right policies, and attack the left.
My theory of why Democrats are losing so many elections on purpose is simple: they need people in power who won't prosecute their biggest superstars for war crimes, and in some cases pedophilia. That’s why they are comfortable with a fellow war criminal like Trump being president.
There's a big difference between saving the world and helping destroy it, but our society lumps them together and calls them 'politics'. Politicians have the power to choose saving or destroying the world. When they are paid by corporations to destroy it, their job is easier if you believe that they never actually had the power to save the world.
No country is perfect. But the reason the U.S. and CIA have always attacked and sanctioned countries with left governments is not because those countries were harming the average American. The reason is that Americans can't be allowed to see left governments succeeding, or taking care of their people. Especially in the global South.
For me Memorial Day is a time to grieve for the mostly poor families who had to sacrifice their sons, daughters, fathers and mothers so that weapons dealers could make more money, so that oil companies could stay in business, so that politicians could temporarily look tough or improve their polling numbers or win midterm elections, and so that colonialism and imperialism could be allowed to continue to destroy the planet and everything that lives.
